Haiti Distribution Complete!

March 9th, 2010 Posted in News | 1 Comment »

Finally all the effort and hard work in this special project has come to an end.  It has been a difficult road leading to bitter sweet success.  Over 1000 tons of food, clothes, water, medical supplies etc.  were personally handed over to the Haitian population in different areas of Haiti.  The haggard faces of old women, the wide smiles of little children, these are the images that will stay ingrained in the minds of the individuals who put all their soul into completing this divine task.  It is not without sadness and a feeling of wanting to do more that this project comes to an end.  But there is much hope, for the Haitian people are strong and willing.

A little boy held on to my fathers hand as he came into a small house that was home to over 200 displaced people.  This little boy would not let go and he stole my fathers heart.  My dad wanted to take him home, but what about all the little boys and girls who have no homes and dream of a brighter tomorrow.  We as blessed people who are not in such dire situations must continue to pray and support this work to help rebuild Haiti.  We must remember that although Haitians may not continually be in the news and before our eyes, these people are suffering greatly.  Pray always for Haiti!

Work continues…Haitians are receiving aid!

February 26th, 2010 Posted in News | 2 Comments »

The distribution of the aid has proved to be a time consuming work.  A small crew on the ground in Haiti consisting of my husband Robert, my parents, some uncles and many hired workers are proving to be most impactful.  With much dedication and a heart for the people they have worked from sun up till way after dark to get this work done.  When the boat arrived in Les Cayes, Haiti it was an arduous task to unload and reload onto trucks considering the large amount of aid and the complexity of the location.  However, after about a week they were able to unload the ship.

Then came the task of properly distributing and documenting.  Robert has told me stories of the people he has seen and how they so appreciated the blessing of the aid.  With this motivation the crew have been able to work nonstop for over a month to complete this effort, and still there is more to do!  Hopefully within a week the remainder of the aid will get into the hands of the needy.  This is the crews goal.  After this is done, our crew will have delivered over one thousand tons of supplies including 1,000 tents directly into the hands of the haitian people without having the delay of supplies staying in wharehouses.  It has gone directly to where it is most needed…into the hands of the sick, the old, the poor, the needy.

Psalm 41 (Haiti Food distribution)

“Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.  The Lord will preserve him and keep him, and keep him alive: and he shall be blessed upon the earth..”  I have claimed this passage from the Bible as yesterday my father and husband were in harms way.  As they went to deliver food, the crowds were so great and ignorant of what was happening that they got out of hand and Robert and my father had to escape the situation.  This whole project has been a labor of love orchestrated by God to provide for the orphans and the widows and those in need.  We continue on this path knowing that all will work out and the helpless people will be blessed!

Refugee help

February 15th, 2010 Posted in News | 1 Comment »

As of Sunday February 14th, Valentines day in the States, our group was able to bring the Love of God to the people in Refugee camps in the form of aid!  Today, my husband Robert described to me how UN trucks carted some of the mixed supplies to the people in the displaced camps in Les Cayes.  The children were running up to him with huge smiles as one woman said “God must have sent you”.  They were so grateful to receive boxes of love sent from people in the States.  We were grateful to be able to participate in being the link to getting the supplies to the people.  God is so good and what a victorious day it was!

The 1500 ton capacity Sea Flower ship is almost completely filled and will set sail in the next few days!  It’s cargo consists of tents, water, food and medical.  This can be considered nothing short of a miracle as we embarked upon this journey less than 3 weeks ago.  We didn’t have the funds, the boat or anyone to donate, but we knew this was God’s will to bless the people of Haiti.  God has graciously provided everything from supplies to funding to make this a reality.   See you tube videos of the boat at www.haiti-life.org.  On that site you will be updated on the voyage…..

Many thanks to all those who labored making phone calls to get supplies and funds.  Your prayers have brought about miraculous works!!! Many more blessings to come.  All the faithful supporters, thank you and may this good work continue.

The catch phrase quoted on Hope for Haiti Now telethon by Tom Hanks are the words my father Fernand Sajous used as the devastation was all around.  “Keep going”, we need to Keep going.  These are words that inspire us here as we seek to bring aid to haiti. Through www.haiti-life.org we are able to receive online donations to further this cause and keep going.   Hope for Haiti Now was inspired by my father as they described how he dug my grandmother out from beneath the Rubble.  Tom Hanks chose to encapsulate his words inorder to motivate others to do the same.  We are doing just that at we seek to enter Haiti through an alterior route and avoid the bottleneck at the Haiti airport.  Arriving in Haiti by boat allows the group the freedom to keep going without stopping to wait for our supplies to clear.  Help aid Haiti now.

A temporary site has been set up to receive online donations for the earthquake relief.  If you wish to make tax-deductible donations via credit card or pay pal please go to www.haiti-life.org.  You may also see video of the first ship that departed last week.  To mail in donations, please make checks and moneyorders payable to Choose life, P.O. Box 250106, Franklin, MI 48025.  We are a 501c3.  We are partnering with a group that has access to ships that have 1300 ton capacity to take the supplies to Haiti.  Also available is a 75 ft. landing craft to unload 60 tons at a time.  Doug Lofland is a member of that group.  They hope to begin filling the ship with supplies starting Friday January 22, 2010 and set sail soon after.  The sail Date is Monday, February 1st and we are still on schedule.  Please help facilitate this step as lives hang in the balance.

This grassroots effort will be effective in many ways.  First, we will be able to directly impact the Haitian families by bringing in supplies through an alternate route that is not congested.  Secondly, we have Haitian connections who are organizing the distribution via trucks as well as security on the ground.  All parties involved have been working and running programs in Haiti for years thus giving us the benefit of knowing the bests ways to distribute effectively.  Finally, due to time sensitivity and the influx of victims flooding to the outlying areas,  It is crucial to get food to those areas.  We do not wish to disparage the larger organization that are already in Haiti as they are doing a great job.  Rather we seek to collaborate with them in the distribution of these supplies.   Already we are working toward this end.  However, we are using our knowledge of the country to facilitate and expedite the effort to outlying areas.  Below is the video of the first boat that was stocked by Doug Lofland.
